چکیده

In 1835, Donne (1) reported that although he found the saliva normally alkaline to litmus, he had found it acid in many diseases, including encephalitis. In 1844, Wright (2) attempted to elaborate a diagnostic system of salivary analysis. About the same time, Simon (3) wrote at length on “morbid saliva” as distinct from “normal.” Among other studies of a similar character were those of Binet (4) in 1884, Sticker (5) in 1889, Dieminger (6) in 1898, Michaels (7) in 1902, and Fleckseder (8) in 1916. Since 1901, Kirk has been the chief exponent of the concept of “the saliva as an

Development of Osmotically Controlled Mucoadhesive Cup-Core (OCMC) Tablet for The Anti-Inflammatory Activity

The aim of the present study was to prepare and evaluate an osmotically controlled mucoadhesive cup-core (OCMC) containing aceclofenac. A special technique was used while preparing an OCMC. Stability of OCMC was determined in natural human saliva, and it was found that both pH and device are stable in human saliva. OCMC was evaluated by weight uniformity, thickness, hardness, friability, swelli...

Studies on the exchange of early pellicle proteins by mucin and whole saliva.

Adsorption of small pellicle proteins statherin or proline-rich protein 1 (PRP1), respectively, and subsequent adsorption of human whole saliva (HWS) or salivary mucin MUC5B, respectively, was studied using ellipsometry and total internal reflectance fluorescence. Differences in elution (using sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) solutions) between mixed and single protein films were also investigated...
